The dazzling lights lit the night at Bennett Station,
and we stumbled home unaware the situation.
I couldn’t help but trace the tiny shadows,
flickering lights on your face, this small memento…

a wink or nod or smile of satisfaction.
Flickering lights on your face hid what I won’t know.
We kissed goodnight as you left toward the shadows.

I sat down on the couch at Bennett Station:
butterflies and eyes, anticipation.
In hopes of what I had always dreamed of:
the hopes and promise of a simple embrace -
Love.
